Protection Of Children Temporarily Or Permanently Deprived Of Parental Care

Promotes the development of protective environment where at-risk children are not unnecessary separated from their families, otherwise protect children in family-based care alternatives. Where the children are deprived of parental care, they are helped to find family-based alternative care in their own communities. This project is implemented in Jumla, Humla, Rolpa and Salyan districts in the mid-western region of Nepal. The project is financially supported by Terre des hommes Foundation, a Swiss INGO and activities are implemented through district based NGOs partners. CMC-Nepal builds technical skills of its partners in psychosocial support and social issues through training and supervision of social workers. This programme has been phased out since June 2013.

Programme activities are:

  • Training/workshop for social workers of NGO’s on psychosocial support and social work
  • Backstopping for supportive supervision of social workers
  • Assessment of children and families for alternative care and protection
