Project Duration: April 2026 – December 2029
The Empowering Inclusion and Enhancing Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (EIEAP) Project is being implemented in Chhayanath Rara Municipality and Khatyad Rural Municipality of Mugu District through a tripartite partnership between Centre for Mental Health and Counselling-Nepal (CMC-Nepal), Herendek Nepal, and the respective local governments, with financial support from Film Nepal.
Mugu is one of the most remote districts of Karnali Province, where access to inclusive education and disability-friendly services remains limited. The project seeks to address these challenges by promoting social and economic inclusion and empowering communities to drive positive, equitable, and sustainable change.
The project adopts a holistic, community-based approach to ensure that no child is left behind. Its primary focus is on disability inclusion, with particular emphasis on improving accessibility, participation, and learning opportunities for children with disabilities. Through capacity strengthening, awareness raising, and collaborative action, the project works with duty bearers, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders to create supportive and inclusive learning environments.
A key component of the project is supporting local governments in the development and implementation of inclusive School Education Sector Plans (SESPs). The project also promotes advocacy and policy dialogue at local, provincial, and federal levels to strengthen inclusive education systems and advance equitable access to quality education as a fundamental human right.
By working closely with government authorities and relevant stakeholders, the EIEAP Project contributes to building inclusive and participatory systems that enable children with disabilities, girls, and other marginalized groups to access, participate in, and benefit from quality education and community development opportunities on an equal basis with others.
